Going at the end of May and need a few suggestions between some courses:
Bluewater Bay
Emerald Bay
Regatta Bay
Santa Rosa
Only have time to play 1, and I have never played any of them. Any suggestions on which one I should try out?

Kelly Plantation.
If it has to be out of those 4, Emerald Bay.

Bluewater bay is across the toll bridge and is an old school neighborhood golf course. There is a reason it’s so cheap in golf now. I play it in June when it’s $20 and My BIL who only plays once a year is with me. We drink beer and enjoy getting away.
The rest are resort courses.
Regatta redid their greens last year. I haven’t played since, but it’s a great course.
Emerald Bay is always a great place.
Santa Rosa I have never played.
Kelley plantation is always primo
There is also the SanDestin courses.
Raven
Baytowne
Links
In that order. I wouldn’t play Links over any on your list.
BEWARE!!! These places punch greens often. Call before you book, and Golfnow is your friend.

Windswept dunes is good one that no one really knows about.

I just picked those 4 because I think I have a free round to those with a promotion through my condo.

Then, play Regatta Bay

Last summer I played Indian Bayou, Kelly Plantation and Windswept Dunes. If price is not a factor and you want the full “Country Club” experience, then I’d say:
1. Kelly Plantation
2. Indian Bayou
3. Windswept Dunes
If you are price conscious and only care about the golf, then:
1. Windswept Dunes $80
2. Indian Bayou $40 (Golf Now deal)
3. Kelly Plantation $165
All three courses were in great shape. Indian Bayou had the best greens at the time, but only by a small margin. Windswept Dunes is about 20 minute drive from 30A area and was a challenging course - wide fairways but long, they have a small pro shop with a grill, very low frills.

2. Indian Bayou
Damn, I forgot to mention Indian Bayou. I love that place. Yeunling on tap served in dimple mugs in the club house.

Is Regatta back to being in good shape after renovations?
Posted on 2/24/20 at 10:40 am to NOLATiger86
My friend that lives there said it is very good - greens firm but smooth. They have not renovated all the holes that were planned, but have the greens done and major renovations completed on #17.

Bluewater Bay
I have always enjoyed Bluewater Bay but I lived in a townhouse there when I got out of high school for 6 months and played a lot of golf so it is sort of nostalgia for me. It is a tighter but shorter course than the others which lends itself to my long irons off the tee and still being able to score well.
Emerald Bay and Regatta have been long standing nice courses. It's been a long time since I played either but they have both been great a long time. Can'g go wrong with a free round at either.
I've never played Kelly although people swear by it around the area. I think it was a Fred Couples group course.

Played this course last year and was impressed. It’s worth the 30 minute drive from Destin.
