These absolute statements are my favorite part of the rant. Just like Paul Mainieri will never win another championship. Both are possible. Hughes does not need to hit .300 nor does he need to hit a single home run for this team to succeed. It’s just the first weekend series of the season. I seriously doubt Smith is finished teaching our guys for the year, so maybe JUST MAYBE, hitters can improve DURING THE SEASON.

Every single team in the country, save for one, can make this same statement about their shortstop.

LOL, Hughs is not going to be the deciding factor in wether we win a Natty or not. We actually have a lot or question marks right now. Are we going to win a natty with Dugas at 2nd, what about Gio at Center? We have some good young talent and will fill these holes. My personal feeling is that Dugas ends up winning an infield spot and Hampton moves into the spot in Center. Gio will be our utility outfielder and play against some right handed pitching. Hal would be a great utility infielder if we could get someone to help secure the center of the infield. Look for changes to be made and solidified by the time we get to SEC play, like every year.

PM couldn't win the NC with Alex Bregman starting at shortstop...and Aaron Nola pitching!

Lest we forget!
