Clayton will have options if he feels he doesn't want to be there anymore. He's got a perfect application for a ln immediate eligibility waiver
Reading this thread it seems some of you guys forget we are talking about 17-18 year old young men here. They aren't always mature enough to make grand decisions like this on their own and many put a ton of trust in the people recruiting them. It's completely reasonable for the kid to be upset.
Are kids should commit to a school but some situations aren't as cut and dry as that. These kids are sold on a program, coaching staff and style, and vision of the coaches recruiting them. When that suddenly all changes in an instant, it's understandable that a teenager would be upset. If coaches weren't a major part of the recruitment process then they wouldn't tout their accomplishments(winning, pro players etc) so much. The coaches are selling themselves as much as the program. So while necessarily purposely lied to, I'm sure Tucker told those kids he wasn't leaving.
Personally think Tucker made a bad decision. MSU has some major shite going on there and likely to be hammered by the NCAA. I'd have stayed in Colorado where expectations are less, the conference is winnable and there's no penalties hanging over its head. At the current time, Colorodo is a better job. It's not like MSU is a huge step above Colorodo as a program.
