They very much do complain about this. The studios complain about this. They want everyone's money, not just men's. It's why they make female-led action movies. They obviously haven't figured out how to consistently get females to the theater to see these films, but they definitely complain about it.

Mutual-appeal movies are a very fine line. Studios would be better off not trying to force mutual-appeal into movies and genres that simply aren't mutual appeal.
