Linehan is a great hire? That would be my bet.

Scott Linehan may be rebooting his career by coming to LSU. Mainly, to learn the hottest offense in football... in college or pros. i.e., the Saints/LSU variation of the Spread

The table is set for him if that is his objective.

1. He has a HC who is 100% committed to a Spread (HUGE advantage)
2. Has E at OC, who has a full year of it.
3. Has WRs, Backs, QB, and O-Line steeped in it
4. Still has Mickey Joseph and maybe Mangas to assist him.

And, of course, Linehan brings his own very considerable depth of knowledge of all levels of the passing game.

I'd have to bet on Coach O on this hire.

He’s not under the age of 20 and doesn’t have 5 Super Bowls.

Come on, man. You don't hire a guy and pay him $800k to come in to learn from guys you already have in place.

Brady was a benevolent drill sergeant. From what I've heard, Linehan has the same rep

One of the most under-appreciated aspects of the 2019 offense was how smooth the execution was. That doesn't happen by accident. Linehan may be the perfect coach to replicate the meticulous attention to detail that Brady achieved.

It's a win-win, IMO.

And, why not? That's about what E was paid in 2019 to learn from Joe Brady.

How'd that turn out?

Not even close to the same. Ensminger is who Coach O trusts and was already in place when they decided to change the offense. What you're describing is what Ensminger did when he went to NOLA to learn from the Saints. This isn't a coaching clinic for Linehan.

Hope he can learn our offense. He should be paying us.

He's not an intern though. He has a wealth of knowledge from many years of coaching at the highest level. If he wasn't bringing something to the table, then they wouldn't be paying him so much.

It's exactly the same. Two older school coaches with a wealth of football knowledge learning a new offense while contributing their decades of other high skills.

Don't bet against O's football judgement. You are woefully out of your depth.

What are you talking about? I didn't say anything about O at all. I didn't say it was a bad hire. You posted that he was coming here to learn. I think he's coming here because he's already knowledge.

Yes. That is my opinion.

You think he's coming here to install a retro passing offense after what you saw LSU do in 2019?

C'mon man yourself.

He's not installing any offense. Are you high?

You are arguing against yourself.

He is either going to learn the passing offense that Brady installed (right answer)

OR

He'll install a retro passing offense (wrong answer)

His job is to make LSU a great offense and to offer his expertise whether it be X's and O's, where to attack the defense, what plays work best on 3rd downs, etc. He's not getting paid to come in and take notes like you're suggesting. You're describing a high school coach at coaching clinic.

What the hell do you think the relationship with E and Brady was in '19?

There is NO damn shame in an older coach learning a new offense... this isn't Madden football. There is a huge learning curve

Again, it's a different situation plus Ensminger had his own strengths when it came to organizing and game planning. His issue was the design and the concepts. Joe Brady didn't teach Ensminger how to be an OC. One more time, you don't pay a man that much money to sit around and let the analysts teach him how to do his job. That's just stupid.
