Asked the girl I really liked but was friendzoned by to homecoming senior year. She initially said yes, but then a week before changed her mind. It was too late to find a date, so I ended up not going.

in 9th grade a girl I had a massive crush on and wanted to date turned me down when I asked her to go with me to homecoming. I was devastated and embarrassed. We stayed friends and when I was 23 we met up in Ireland and went out; ended up making out. She admitted she had a massive crush on me too back then but was too nervous to say yes / go with me. That rejection destroyed my (already minimal) confidence for the next 8 years, and it was all a lie.
