Unless you know why, this is silly. There are many reasons someone might wear a mask.

The mask was to protect her from germs when she puts peepee in your Coke.

Seriously, though, was she the first Asian person y’all have ever met or something? Because it’s a pretty common thing, culturally speaking. There was even an Asian kid at my daughter’s soccer game (high school, with a sizable number of international students) wearing a mask last week, which was a little more unusual because of his age but not something I would have otherwise remembered.

A lot of times they’re not even wearing masks because they’re sick themselves, but because the general population is disgusting and when ill sprays germs all over like a Rainbird sprinkler. Frankly, I wouldn’t be too sad if more Americans picked up on that practice.
