I’d argue that it appears that O’s strategy is similar to Clemson’s strategy prior to this year. Get the most high quality recruits you can but don’t settle on players just fill the class.

Basically if there is a bigger fish we think we have a shot at, go after the bigger fish and if we miss then we will figure it out. But don’t limit yourself by signing lower quality players just for numbers sake.

Obviously this plan is dependent on needs as well. For example we needed QBs in this class so we signed 2 guys with tons of potential even though they aren’t can’t miss type guys.

On the flip side, we signed 3 DTs so we didn’t need to keep Jordan Berry or Jalen Lee in the class just to sign guys. We’d add a 4th DT if it was a better prospect like Jackson but it really wasn’t a need.

Let me add that I have zero inside knowledge, this is just my attempt at connecting the dots of the decisions that were made.
