Having a stronger arm was more important in the past. You are right. It isn't as important now.

None of that takes away from the fact that Mahomes has a stronger arm than Burrow. So does Aaron Rodgers. So did Brett Favre. So did countless other NFL quarterbacks. Does that mean Burrow cannot be as good or better than them? Absolutely not. I just find it interesting that you scoff at the idea of Burrow's arm not being as strong as Mahomes. You can be the goat and not be the best at everything. Drew Brees has more touchdown passes than everyone else and he never had a super strong arm. Tom Brady has more championships than everyone else and he never had a super strong arm. No one is trying to say that one metric makes a QB better than another. But you just can't let it go.

You've bought in to an old media narrative from Ohio State beat writers - i.e. that Haskins had a much stronger arm than Burrow. He doesn't, and never did. And you can't let that go.

I don't know for certain if Mahomes or Burrow has the stronger arm and neither do you.

I once played a round of golf with a PGA pro and an ex-Iowa O Tackle. The tackle commented on what iron the pro was hitting over and over. Conversation went like this:

OT: FIVE iron? I'm hitting a 9.
OT: Eight iron, I'm hitting sand wedge, etc and etc.

Finally the pro said, "I choose to hit a 8 iron for distance control. But I can hit that green with every club in my bag - and twice as often as you can with your sand wedge - and I'll include my driver and my putter."

Then the PGA pro said, "We'll go for $1000, I'll take your I.O.U." The OT quickly STFU.

Bottom line: Burrow can fire cannon balls when he chooses to. He rarely chooses to. That's not his game.
