The rotator cuff tendons and subacromial/subdeltoid bursa are closely related structures and routine RC tendinitis may present similar to bursitis. Full blown RC tears or partial thickness tears are often associated with deficits in range of motion and weakness.
An MRI can easily detect full or partial thickness tears of the RC, but a good orthopod can usually make the distinction clinically
