Western cultures also largely abandoned beauty as an ethos in art by the middle of the 20th. Art Deco was the last gasp. Instead artists looked to provoke viewers, rather than inspire them with beauty.
And beauty should be interpreted broadly. Because it was not just beauty in form, but beauty in thought and action.
This was part of a broader assault on tradition.
I agree, but it’s still great television
