Engineers? Seems they learn and master knowledge that few can but most appear to average about 150k.

150k to set in meetings and give an opinion is easy money.

That seems good to me for a 4 or 5 year degree with little student loan debt.

Actually, that's pretty spot on for Project Managers in Civil with around 10+ years of experience.
Now, Business Development leads and Principals make far north of that......but, that group is a much smaller percentage of CE grads. Successful TxDOT business leads are many times north of $300K base salary.
