Terre Haute, Indiana. My mom read all these posts and just started crying, thank you guys so much for your words. She wants to say she’s so appreciative to everyone for their kindness and love shown, it means the world right now.
Update on Tammy: She’s awake and more lucid today, they’ve put her on Seroquel to help with the anxiety and paranoia. Her kidney labs are IMPROVING and her heart functions are also improving. White blood count is still elevated to indicate the infection and toxins are still present in her blood. She has more moments of comprehension today for the first time in several days, so hopefully with more toxins leaving her system this will help with the confusion. Her face is extremely swollen, which could be due to her kidneys not functioning correctly. Doctors will perform another scan to see how many more stones are still present in her kidneys and go from there, will most likely do a non-surgical method to remove any remaining stones. Basically just taking it day by day.
A little background on Tammy, she has a rare disease called Hypocalcemia and Hypoparathyroidism in addition to Hoshimotes Disease. The medication she was taking for the Hypoparathyroidism was recalled and she is awaiting a thyroid transplant, but she has to be well enough to have the transplant performed. Her condition weakens her bones and something as simple as stepping out of bed has broken bones in her foot. She’s had multiple surgeries and is in chronic pain, but remains positive and upbeat and strives to do her best to fight through her daily pain. She is a remarkable little woman. She also became a big tiger fan this year, knowing how much we love our tigers down here. She thought was Joe did with the foodbank was amazing and it really touched her heart.
She will need a caregiver upon release from the hospital, which will not be covered by insurance, adding to the already mounting medical bill. Any help that can be given will be greatly appreciated by her family, and if you want to leave a note on the gofundme page I know she’d really love to read it. I’ll link the gofundme being set up soon. Thank you to everyone praying and I’ll give more updates throughout the days ahead as we get them.
