1: Absolutely not. My daughter is an NYU student with a Chinese dorm mate who went home for the holidays. Three worrying weeks after her roommate, and many hundreds of other Chinese students returned, no NYU Manhattan students were suspect infected. At the same time, thousands of Americans without Chinese descent went to China and back as well.
The concern in NY started in Feburary outside Manhattan in a community that is not normally associated with China.
2: Spread is travel related and Chinese Americans are no more likely to travel to China than Italians or other Europeans are to their ancestral countries.
3: Yes, it started in China but Chinese people living here or in Vancouver are not more likely to spread it.
