I know there's not necessarily any one answer and most likely he was just a complete POS regardless of any of the other contributing factors. Still, mentioning CTE or him possibly liking men is kind of a cheap attempt to grab eye balls. Nobody really thinks either of those things has anything to do with him being a murderer.
