My buddy in Field 4 out there is probably going to lose a few as well.

He has a couple of boys that hunt public and they hunt it hard. All over Mecca too. They have been killing birds and Mallards at that but they work their arses off for them. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but there are ducks in NELA.

So wait.... there are still people here that give two shits about BS duck numbers that Larry Reynolds puts out? Yall do know how full of shite he is right???? NO fkn way yall believe him anymore. Do you really need some DU mascot telling you what we don't have anymore. We as an active group out in the field as a whole are way better representation than anything he can put out. Made my first hunt as a 10year old in around 1985. We had plenty ducks everywhere. Mid 90's started a drastic change. Seems to be cut in half damn near every two to three years since. Your hens are not brining their young ducks back to the bayou state in significant numbers. People argue our landscape has changed and it has. But there is still more than ample wintering grounds loaded with food. Problem is if they have never seen it there is no reason to ever come. With mild winters north or Arkansas and no need to attempt anything south of Branson MO....then why? The next generation of ducks never try it and BAM the education is gone the internal map is deleted. Food sources in the Midwest have stopped the need to fly south. We need to ask big questions with these numbers down. How bad is not letting ducks not winter in an invertebrate rich environment hurting calcium needs in egg production? How are egg shell density without these nutritional goals meet? Its not just about corn. Ducks need a winter load of protein the Midwest is not supplying. Its a loss no one is wanting to talk about.
