Both DandyDom and Football scoop reporting Aranda to Baylor, but no mention of Busch going as the DC. Has this announcement officially been made, or is Busch still in play to stay at LSU as the new DC.

Can't imagine him being in play for our DC. If we were going to promote from within you would have to think that would go to Raymond.
My money is on Busch to Baylor as DC
LSU hires an established DC from somewhere else
Raymond gets a fat raise

I would imagine Aranda wants him it would be up to LSU to step up if they want to keep him. He is a good recruiter but on the field Raymond has done the whole defensive backfield without Busch before so im not concerned.

why cant you imagine this....big difference between Raymond and Busch...Busch has been a DC before...Sorry but if Raymond wants to be a DC ever his first opportunity will not be at LSU

Just thinking with Busch, LSU doesn't have to change defensive schemes/playbook.

Aranda fought hard to get Busch on staff here at LSU, was one of the big reasons he stayed during one of his negotiations with LSU.

He gone.

I don't think this is entirely accurate. It wasn't that Aranda was fighting against a resistance to hire Busch, specifically. His fight was to dedicate one of the 9 (at the time) coaching positions to safety, thus creating a second staff position for the defensive backfield.

I think Todd Orlando could be his hire for DC.

I would bet some money he becomes Aranda's DC.

Aranda brought him to LSU which completely felt like him building his own staff to eventually ride with him wherever he goes. He knows the defense better than anyone besides Aranda himself, he's a great recruiter, and they're close friends.

It just makes too much sense.

Well that's possible, but if Busch is on the plane trip to DC, then I am sure he's getting an earful from the shrimpboat captain.

Pretty sure Aranda basically created a position in his contract negotiations that he had intended the entire time to fill with Busch.

It is semantics to argue whether he fought for Busch or the position, it was basically both.

Well if he’s not offering the DC job (which he’s not), then there isn’t much to talk about

This might be the dumbest thing I’ve read on here in awhile.

I don't think it's semantics at all in the context of the post I was replying to. Aranda having to fight to hire Busch could imply that Orgeron didn't want Busch on staff. As in Orgeron didn't think Busch was a good enough coach, or a good enough fit, to join his staff.

And yeah, I agree that Aranda negotiated it into his contract. Also, as important as keeping Aranda was at that time, I don't believe this was some huge point of contention for Orgeron did agree to.

Your coach shaves off his sideburns above the ear.

This don't mean shite coming from you!

1. Aranda and Orlando run similar defenses.
2. Aranda has vouched for Orlando a couple of times which helped him get his last 2-3 DC jobs.
3. Orlando is pretty much available having just taken a position coach job at Texas Tech
