North Dallas area is fully developed with nice neighborhoods and good public schools.
If you want land, look to the suburbs south of Dallas.
Both areas are nice and commute into downtown will be about the same, just depends on if you want some land or a true neighborhood/suburb feel.

What is the furthest from downtown I should look? I've heard that the traffic coming from the northern suburbs is insane.
