I got stuck on a few hour flight delay with a college officiating crew a few years ago. We went into a lot of details on what gets called and what doesn't when it comes to holding and PI.
Where the OPI came into play on that call was the offensive player's left hand appearing to cause the defender to lose balance and end up on the ground.
You can see the grab and arm extension here:
and the defender going to the ground here with the grab still continuing:
If the offensive receiver would have released after the first picture it likely doesn't get called. In real time it looked like the offensive player used the defensive player to change direction causing the defender to fall.
That is why it was called.
