2008 Sierra, 185,000 miles 4.8l
Short YouTube Video
It does speed up a little when I accelerate.
Update. Not the tensioner or idler pulley. I'm thinking water pump.

Im thinking have some type of flap or strap that must have fell down and is getting hit by your fan blade or belt. i would turn the engine off and see if anything is contacting the rotating parts in the belt area

Check your starter.... had a noise on my 2011 Yukon turned out the bendix was not retracting

I kept waiting for the beat to drop

185,000 miles - check the belt tensioner and the bearings on any other idler pulleys.

Looks like you think it was comin g from front of engine. It could very well be the tensioner. Try turning the AC off and on to see if there is a change in the sound. If so techs sometimes use a stethoscope with a specialized pointed end to listen for noises. Not sure if it will get to tensioner with engine running though.

Sounds like a marching band.

It's a quick and easy fix if it's just one of those pulleys. That's where I'd look first.
It sounds a lot like this video Failing Belt Tensioner Noise

Thinks that's where ill start.
Going to change my idler pulley, belt tensioner and serpentine belt, if it ain't that I'll being it to someone.

seems like if you could just pop the belt loose you could spin/inspect the idler and tensioner without replacing them. Though maybe they are due for a change anyway.

That's what I'm thinking, I'll take the belt off and see if I can find anything. Then change what I need too. If I average 35 MPH I would have 5200 hours on it. That's a lot of run time.

Take the serpentine belt off and see if the noise goes away, if it does spin the pulleys by hand and see which one is noisey. If it still does it, it may be a wiped out lifter and camshaft.

You can run your engine without the serpentine belt?

Mechanic thinks it the Flex Plate. He needs to out it on the rack to make sure though.
