If Brees signs a deal for $28mil a year, I want to make sure you guys understand that he did sacrifice a little bit of change.

Because everything I see out there is guys wanting him to take a $20mil deal, and that's not a "little bit of change" of a discount to what his fair market value is.

Normally I’d agree with you shel

But let’s not act like $20M is chump change. If Brees REALLY wants one more shot then he’ll take one for the team. Brees, realistically, is worth $33-34M but we can’t pay him that and he knows that so he’s taken less before. I think $25M is a good compromise. He knows, the team knows, CSP knows and the entire organization knows he’s not going to single handedly lead us to a SB. He needs help, sometimes a lot of help and if he wants the team to be able to compete like it did in 2019 and 2018 then he’s going to HAVE to make a huge sacrifice money wise. It’s not fair but winning a SB ain’t easy and this team not only needs to keep some of the depth it has but also has to try to find a way to get better

We’ve gotten really lucky with our last few drafts. We’ve found some studs but at some point that luck might run out. It’s easy to see we’ll keep restocking the roster because we’ve drafted so we’ll but what if we have a dud this year? A talented roster already in place makes it easier to withstand that and if we do hit on our draft class again this year then it takes us over the top. If we lose our depth and hit on our draft class, then it’s just more of the same. Brees needs to take the large discount to keep our depth intact
