Who are you flying with and what kind of plane?
I'm not a 121 guy (airlines). Spent a lot of time in the 135 world (charter).
The current visibility, as reported in the METAR (1/16mile), is below minimums for charter and most airline operations. That's why I referenced the CAT III mins to Rwy 11. It has an ILS with mins below standard 200 and 1/2 required on most ILS approaches. Plane and pilots must be qualified for that type approach. Most are not.
The TAF is the forecast and it shows improvement in visibility, which is controlling, so the possibility of getting in to MSY improves this afternoon starting around 2pm.
