Not for kids with realistic goals in life. That could mean the NFL or it could mean a degree.

Nobody watches the XFL. Kids who can play in the league will get much, much more exposure in college, and can improve draft stock infinitely more than they could in the XFL.

For those who know they won’t be NFL players, staying four years gets them a degree that can support them for 50 years.

XFL money is pretty meh, and the duration of a career is pretty short. Nobody even knows if the venture will succeed.

Just look at what happened with that other league last year (AAF maybe?).

If ANY non NFL professional football league has any aspirations of long term success they would be wise to create a model that resembles minor league baseball and would affiliate them with an NFL team essentially making them a farm league.

#1 It would tap into NFL money
#2 It would provide NFL the opportunity to identify talent early and cheap.
#3 It would provide NFL teams to develop talent in a similar scheme to what they run
#4 It would allow the NFL to bring up players during the season..this would be a huge game/season-changer.

Biggest obstacle is the Power 5 Conferences are addicted to all the $$$ the elite talent brings. A farm league would diminish this and the Power 5 will fight tooth and nail against anything that would resemble a minor football league.

The hidden issue here is that kids can now play professional football without the three year required hiatus from high school by the NFL.

If top high school players begin to see the logic in this and also can sign endorsement deals, college football could get a run for their money. It’s probably why the NCAA has capitulated to the recent pay for athletes.

The landscape could be very different in the near future.

GEAUX XFL! F the NFL!

XFL will most prolly get a jump on NFL and not require 3 years of college to get guys sooner. That is the rumor. they will play by a different set of rules. They will need it.

Can't wait for season to start. GEAUX HOUSTON ROUGHNECKS! Need another league like old USFL badly in spring time. Gonna be a longshot if it works but anything is possible.
