Our base offense is tricky enough for most defenses. It must be because everytime Joe points out a "disguised " blitzer or Jefferson scores another touchdown they throw there hands up as if they have no answers. Well because they dont but anyway.
Let's get up a few scores then let CEH throw a couple slants to Burrow. Chase can then run speed options with Jefferson at RB... just let them draw up plays in the huddle. Lol... I'm joking btw.

Our trick play was more of a long con. We spent the last 10+ years convincing everyone LSU’s offense was archaic then we came out this year with our real offense. We’ve been asking for the secret playbook. We knew it existed.
Hell, our con was so elaborate, it even included coaching changes.

Even groomed a kid from Florida to become a WR, then coach under Sean Peyton so we could appear to lure him away!
Dont even start on the job they did predicting Burrows success as an infant and convincing him to go to OSU before LSU! Genius at best!!!

Good observation regarding no trick plays, I hadn't really thought about that. Although I agree with the masses here in that we don't need them, I would love to see Joe Burrow catch a TD pass in the NCG. Nice way to end an outstanding College career.

Every k play with Borreaux is a trick play, the boy is amazing!

Didn’t Jambalya Sauce start a thread like this already?

Hey, He caught a pass from himself in the SECCG that was good for about twenty yards and a first down!

Don’t need trick plays when you are completing 80% of you passes.

sigh this is why we can't have nice things
He just asked a question. He didn't say he thought we needed them.
We had a new play in the Bama game where Hellaire ran out in the flat and and Burrow took off like it was a QB draw, but then he threw it on the run basically to Chase after the safety bit for about a 30-yard gain. That was an excellent play and basically a trick play for us.
The only other thing I recall is Chase lining up in the backfield againt OU and running the ball for a 1st down. That was new for us as well.

Trick plays are very over rated

Are we forgetting Joe's designed "pass to himself" trick play?

For opposing defenses, most of LSU’s plays are a trick...on them. Lol

I've been thinking about that too, for a week or so now. I can't remember a single trick play all year. The scary thing is, you KNOW they HAVE some. They just haven't NEEDED any. YET. It's comforting, however, to know that, if their backs are against the wall, and they need a trick play, it will be something NO ONE has seen, not from LSU. And whatever it is, you can bet that Burrow, Edwards-Helaire, and Jefferson/Chase/Moss will execute it perfectly.
The thing about a well-executed trick play is, in addition to getting you a first down or touchdown when you need it badly, once you pull it off, the other team has to guard against it for the rest of the game. And that means all your conventional plays are easier to execute. Run a perfect flea flicker, and the next time you have the ball, the defensive backs can't leave their receivers when they see a handoff. And once CEH gets through the defensive line, he'll have 20 yards and a full head of steam before he even sees a defender.
Does coach O have a few trick plays up his sleeve? I guarantee it! He and Ensminger both worked for Miles too long to not have a bag of tricks. Will he need one? Probably not. But if it was me, I'd run one on the first play just to get in Venables's head. Because if there's anyone on Clemson's team or sideline that can beat LSU, it's not Lawrence, it's not Etienne, it's not S-whiney, it's Venables, the defensive coordinator. And when he has to throw two weeks of planning and preparation in the trash 3 minutes into the game, it's over.

The only one I can remember even remotely close to a trick play was in the Bama game when joe ran the zone read, looked like he was going to run it to suck the linebacker in and popped it over his head to chase for about 35 yds. And that wasn’t even really a trick play in the crazy shenanigans kind of way

Lining up with three or four wide receivers on first down and lining up with no wide receivers on pass plays are pretty much trick plays.

Ask OU about how well those trick plays work. Trick plays are usually out of desperation.
