Yeah if people are gonna freak out when a kid high steps in an all star game I would normally just ignore them. Maybe hit em with a downvote on the way out if I’m feeling like it

caught 18 TD’s.

Damn, he should be a take away machine. If he can catch well enough to be an 18 touchdown receiver then he should be great in the secondary.

Is he projected to be a corner or a safety?

I do annual CB eval's just as a general football aficionado.
Not much into the DBU thing or HS player ratings in general.
But note ratings ARE diffinitely tied to Preseason Power 5 rankings and therefore is tied to how ref's call games (in general).

Advice, take your ratings for McGlothern with your dates and cross reference with McGlothern's college visits (Posted on 247). McGlothern's ratings began to drop after home visit with Ala, than A&M, continued to drop after Georgia (UO), nearly bottomed out after second Georgia (UO) and after the Under Armor game (2 INT and 1 pick 6 against all 5-Star players) finally bottomed out at current 87 rating.
Biggest drop was after second Georgia visit. Projection for McGlothern is at most Power 5 player 247 Gabe Brooks. Whether dots can be connected or not I don't know but it looks bad for one or two SEC coaches and Gabe Brooks. The point is Coach Smart a few days ago commented on neg. recruiting against Georgia and the SEC. Could neg. recruiting ratings be happening to recruits, esp. LSU recruits?

It's possible but I hope not.

Possibly, I can def. see a coach/coaches that get a sense that the kid does not wanna commit to them, then turn around and start removing offers and telling recruiting insiders that he has issues, whatever they wanna make up and lie about.. good point

I know one thing. After that AA showing he’s one of the top CB’s in last years class.
I’m damn happy he commited to LSU and I think we stole one, ratings be damned.

Screw em. Let us take "their" low 4* and 3* and develop them into 1st rounders.

Agreed. I really wanted him this time last year and wasn’t sure why he was dropping in the rankings. Kid has a big chip on his shoulder I’m sure and I’m ready to see what Raymond does with him.

He's got it all, size, fluidity, anticipation, great hands, he could be a top notch corner or a Grant Delpit type S. bottom line is Raymond has DBU rolling with Sting, Flott, Ricks, McGlothern,Hampton, Raydar, Ward etc all in the last two classes

I can see some of the drop. A big imposing fast kid looks more impressive early on in the process compared to a bunch of 16-17yos.

As a senior, I'm sure there was concern over his quickness and ability to cover smaller faster WRs. Makes sense. Big long kid and he probably will have some difficulty in certain matchups.

For the record, I have always liked him and think at the very least he could be a ball-hawking free safety

@Blanky6715
Jeffery Okudah CB OSU is out of South Grand Prairie HS (Dallas area). OSU recruits TX a ton and so I follow TX CB's

247 Gabe Brooks initially had JoJo Earle as a low 5-Star but once LSU got into the mix his rating slowly dropped as JoJo began to lean LSU. JoJo's current rating is something like 95 or 96. Brooks has his profile as almost too small for college football.
Check out Clemsons 2020 RB Demarkcus Bowman a kid OSU also recruited. List 5'9 191lbs he's closer to 5'7 180lb which doesnt matter he's a great athlete. JoJo Earle is taller and heavier, read both profiles and projections.
My point is to just point out that LSU's signees rating are likely higher than stated. LSU got a commit from Landon Jackson, also recruited by OSU, 4 months ago rated 247 98 5-Star he finished the season with over 110 tackles and 17 sacks, 17 sacks recently off a knee injury but now is rated barely 95, A&M was battling with LSU.

FWIW no one at 247 had him leaning towards LSU up until the week before he committed and he had dropped way before then.

McGlothern also recruited by OSU said on a couple of interviews he answered listing his serious contenders he would forget some teams but never LSU. The final lean indicator (not commit) for me occurred when Dwight mentioned in a recruiting posting that, "I can see myself fitting into LSU's CB system." He never said that about OSU or any of the finalists. That statement was made along the time line of late Feb when his biggest drop in rating started. Just my personal take.
