If you're trying to mentor someone and give honest feedback while they are asking for your input on a career decision, I can respect this.

But if someone has already made their decision, it's a pretty jackass thing to tell them that they're making a mistake, whether they are or not. At that point, let them decide for themselves whether it's a mistake or not. That goes for any career field.

Well coaching isn't similar to everywhere, and if I respect the person I have no issues listening to that feedback. I actually seeked it from my boss on my last offer

Add to the fact that O and Payton are friends and O coached under Payton, I think you'd be crazy to think that Payton didn't give O his honest opinion on his ability too (not to mention inviting O and E to practices)

No, it's pretty jackass to sit there and lie to them if you believe they are making a mistake. You do not have to be a dick about the way you say it... and if you were wrong then you admit it.

Not sure why telling someone what you believe is the truth is so damn wrong... you can still be supportive and help someone even if you believe they made the wrong choice.
