Issues updating firmware on Netgear router

Of course no support available since I’ve had it >90 days. Got an email regarding a firmware update for my router. The only way to do it is via the Nighthawk app.
I have tried at least five or six times, different times of day, etc. I keep getting the same error message when it searches for updates. I’ve triple checked it is the correct router type and all.
Anyone else dealing with the update and have any advice?

why not log in to the router without the app? Thats how I update mine every time.

The notification was telling me I could ONLY do it through the app...finally got back to my laptop and just logged in, and it worked!
