I'm not cherry picking, I'm giving you a concrete example where the SEC was mediocre in bowls one year AND THE VERY NEXT YEAR, an 11-1 SEC team that did not win its division made the playoffs.

That has never happened theoretically a possible scenario but a very unlikely one. The only time that has happened to anyone it was Bama in the middle of maybe the greatest run in CFB history

The 1 loss conference champ would probably get in, unlike last years bowls winning your conference is actually listed as a criteria for the committee. you might as well believe the SEC Fairy will get us in because that's just as believable as this years Citrus Bowl playing a factor
