One of F Scott Fitzgerald’s greatest works that epitomizes the decade. Since we are entering the 2020s, I figured I would revisit the 1920s, a much better period, with my heavily annotated copy of the book from high school. I suggest everyone reads the book at least twice in their lives to be frank. Read it once in high school, and again when you start your career. It really gives a lot of perspective to your life.

The green light is representative of so much more than the mind can fathom. Truly an incredible literary work by Fitzgerald and arguably the greatest in all of American literature

I used to prefer The Beautiful and The Damned, but then I re-read The Great Gatsby a few years ago and really saw the genius in it.

Gatsby might stand up better to “literary criticism,” but I like the story better in This Side of Paradise

Tender is the night is good too. It’s a shame he couldn’t focus more on writing, and writing for artistic value instead of money solely. Hemingway, although admittedly jealous, makes it seem like Scott was all over the place, due to alcohol and Zelda. That scene in A Movable Feast I think, where Scott kicks the windshield out of the car as they’re going to the train station because he doesn’t want Ernest to leave is hard to read, like watching a rock star right before the end.

I’m still reading Tender is the Night and it’s taking me forever because I don’t get as much time to read (for pleasure) anymore
