Willfully refusing to defend a foreign nation's embassy when they're under siege is essentially an act of terrorism if not an outright act of war.
I don't care who you are or what the current situation is, that is a diplomatic red line that cannot be crossed and must be punished if its crossed.

It’s not just my opinion here dude. The Vienna convention requires host countries to do everything it can to protect diplomatic facilities from violent incidents like this and Iraq so far is failing to adhere to that responsibility.
Article 22 of the 1961 Vienna Convention obligates Iraq "to take all appropriate steps to protect the premises of the mission against any intrusion or damage and to prevent any disturbance of the peace of the mission or impairment of its dignity."
Iraq is party to the Vienna convention. And that document is the cornerstone for diplomatic relations around the world. Any government that violates the convention must be held accountable.
These are all the countries that are party to the Vienna convention.
