Coxie committed to LSU in 2015 LSU pulled his offer before NSD fearing Coxie would not qualify academically. Coach Norvel at Memphis kept in touch and believed in Damonte the whole time. After getting his grades in order, LSU had already filled their 2016 class. Damonte signed with Memphis and the rest is history. 3* WR that had SEC talent, just lacked the grades coming out of HS. DC is regarded by his coaches and peers as one of the best persons to come through the Memphis program
The story about his gloves and friendship with a 2-yr old Down Syndrome kid is very moving

The CA certainly paints it in a Memphis light. Im pretty sure they were able to get him qualified more easily because of the lower AAC standards.
