Seems like a dumb coverage for the D Coordinator to run on a 3rd and long. If Ramsey is supposed to be forcing the wideout to the sideline then he should be playing an inside technique and not giving up the outside and safety should be on the hash. Also the only way the CB should be on the numbers is if it’s a Cover 3 or Quarters.
Well yea, but that's what makes Ramsey's coverage so clueless. He barely moved until the WR blew past him. Ramsey blames the safety, but the WR had him beat by nearly 10 yards, it didn't matter what he thoughts because he gave no effort. The WR had a more narrow split, but most NFL routes have options in them. I'm assuming Sanders so the outside technique Ramsey was playing and the safety helping over the top out wide so he just changed to a skinny post and it was the easiest throw and catch.

The safety’s position is more clueless than where Ramsey is. He’s playing outside leverage in almost a zone look, definitely looks like he thought the safety was going to pick up that inside vertical route. Why would the safety be outside the numbers with Ramsey play off with outside leverage?
