Jumping back in here after a long absence to answer this question. The 26 Nosler is a blazing 6.5 cartridge that fills a hole in my caliber inventory.

Yea all the noslers on paper make more sense than the stable of calibers they are meant to unseat.

For it's intended use, the 7mm rem mag makes more sense. Much more load options and longer barrel life. 264 win mag got the barrel cooking 6.5 right long ago.

I think the noslers and most new calibers coming out these days are just watering down the market. None of them (besides 375/416 ruger) offer large advantages over their older family of cartridges IMO. The noslers still require a long action and long barrel to do their thing.

Weatherby has had offerings that cover the whole spectrum forever.
