Atlanta is the de facto capital of southern football.
It hasn't been a huge advantage for Georgia, since opposing fans can get in and out as easily and most have huge alumni bases there anyway.

The real issue is that the east teams get to play a patsy ACC team the week prior to the championship while the west teams have to play a meaningful game. The east is wrapped up weeks in advance and the eastern team is able to scoop up tickets many weeks in advance of the west team. Next year will be even worse with how the west is scheduled for the last two weeks. the east team will be somewhat rested while it will be the 3rd tough game in as many weeks for the west representative.
