I sure hope it is an open position. If he is the one that offers us the best chance for success, so be it.

He would have no excuses. He has been in the system and having more of an opportunity to understand it better than anyone, but to presume it is his from the onset is not realistic.

EVERY position is open until it is filled, NOBODY was promised a starting position. We don't get kids in recruiting by telling them to come and sit behind the senior guy and wait for him to screw it up or leave.

You want it, go out and earn it.

You're living in the past. We are not running the same lame-arse offense anymore. Those days, thankfully, are gone. With the new offense LSU runs today, it is imperative that the projected starting QB, cause it can only be one QB at a time, gels and builds chemistry with the receivers during the entirety of the offseason the same way Burrow did to become successful.

Hence, a QB must become the projected starting QB before the regular season ends so that the projected starter can then gel and build chemistry with the receiver corp. Otherwise, the new system will not be nearly as successful.
