I know a lot of people doing the same. Another factor I’d imagine affecting these stats are that many people are having kids later in life. Our ancestors popped out a new generation every 20-25 years. I was almost 40 before becoming a parent. When I was in high school, all of my friends had parents that were only 25 years older than us. I am not nearly the oldest dad at my kids’ school. The distance between generations is also stretching.

This is not necessarily a good thing. Kids take energy. Having kids older in life is tougher in the parents and results in fewer kids in general.
