Oops, I read it wrong. I thought it said 90's and yeah, alice in chains was all sorts of grunge.

That's funny, I remember them on Headbangers Ball before grunge was a thing. Cant see a grunge band putting out Jar of Flies either. Their riffs are definitely metal based.
