Do cellular phone companies still prioritize traffic based on customers occupation (I.e. cops, fire depts, physicians, executives)?

I’m thinking it happened in the analog days. A friend of mine that worked for SCB told me about it.

Only thing first and AT&T have in common in shitty customer service. It will be a modern miracle if they don’t frick first net up. They stand to make a shite ton load of money down the road selling the unused bandwidth.

Back in the day, when I worked for the G, I was issued a card with a special number on it. When I dialed that series of numbers, it would kick someone off the circuit and secure it so I could make a call. It was for times when “all circuits are busy.” I only ever use it on 9/11 and during Katrina.
