Clearly Alabama or Georgia. They fear LSU and Burrow. They know they cannot beat LSU on the field

Anyone with a shot at the Heisman is far more likely (their agent)

Is that the name of your fan club, or are you actually a friend of his?

“Believe me when I say this because he was my roommate for two years,” Ohio State defensive lineman Dre’Mont Jones said, “you’re getting a dog in Joe. Joe’s no slouch. He’s a leader. He’s gonna take over that huddle.”

quote:

Like Jones, Ohio State offensive lineman Isaiah Prince was close with Burrow. They were all part of Ohio State’s 2015 class, so they know Burrow on and off the field as well as anyone. They saw the development Burrow had to go through just to rise up the Buckeyes’ loaded quarterback depth chart.

“He’s a determined hard worker, very smart. Just me knowing Joe, he’s gonna do what it takes to win,” said Prince, who said he plans on catching as many LSU games as he can. “He’s a baller. He’s gonna make the necessary throws and the necessary reads. I know how Joe works and I think they’re extremely blessed to have a player like Joe.”

These recent "social media revelations" are some sick, twisted slams against Joe. Trying to turn some innocent locker-room trash talk into a weapon against a damn good guy.

Listen to the guys who know him and lived with him. Not some jive-arse reporter who posts a hit piece

And I'm sure we all support Joe Burrow 100%.

Still, you're a PR guy, not some random fan.

The timing is awfully suspicious - I suspect the folks around some of the other Heisman hopefuls may be behind this. Or perhaps some of the other playoff teams trying to create a distraction for LSU.

Regardless, nothing in there seems worthy of continued discussion, IMHO.

Whoever said a character assassination was "worthy of continued discussion".

Just because it isn't worthy doesn't mean you don't have to fight it.

It's not like Burrow has nothing at stake. I'd strongly suggest the Burrow family contact atty L. Lin Wood. He represents the Covington boys against the Wash Post etc.

I'm sure a consultation would be free of charge. Wood is located in Atlanta GA, Peachtree St.

This kind of media/social media attack is no joke. It can not be ignored (despite well-meaning advice from Rant posters).

Jimmy Burrow isn't some rube, backwater football kid's father. He played pro ball, himself. He's extremely well respected and was a Division I coordinator for many years. Those guys have contacts in the league, the sports media, etc.

I never said they shouldn't fight, nothing to fight about, etc. I said the substance of what was leaked was nothing - meaning, nada, zilch, bupkis. Anyone trying to make something out of it has a huge uphill battle.

Nada, zilch, bupkis?? Social media slime campaigns don't need facts... false narratives can actually be far more damaging.

This crap popped up on TD and other sites a couple days ago. Your answer is ignore it? Ridiculous.

This has ALL the ear marks of a PR dirty-tricks campaign. Again, I would recommend that the Burrow family contact L. Lin Wood atty in Atlanta. He is the Big Gun in these kind of cases. And the sooner the better.

If MSM learns that Wood is involved, this BS slime story will be buried deeper than Jimmy Hoffa.

Even though you were out of line earlier, I will still ask you some reasonable questions. Although us here feel the tweets amount to nothing, what would you like us to do about somebody going through Joe’s old tweets and writing about it? I didn’t read his commentary about it but otherwise what is illegal about bringing up old tweets?

Don’t get all emotional and lash out. Just answer it seriously.

Internet libel is a fairly new, but a highly active area of the law. There are attorneys who are expert in this area. I have a sense that this one is headed in that direction.

I'm not an attorney, but I follow some of these cases with almost as much interest as I have in college football.

Attorney L. Lin Wood also represented the families of Richard Jewell, Jon Benet Ramsey, and Natalee Holloway in media libel issues.

Again I didn’t read his commentary. Is there something in the writeup you feel is libelous? Doubt you can get somebody for libel just for pointing out somebody’s own tweets, even if they are being a douche by doing so.

Jewell was accused of bombing the Olympics, the Ramsey’s of killing their daughter. Not just pointing out things they had previously said/tweeted.

Perhaps you should stop giving legal advice, particularly on a sports blog.

If you must, do it privately.

One can not infer that someone is a racist (which is what this hit piece does, IMO). Ask the Washington Post re: the Covington boys.

With strong legal representation, this crap will implode. Without representation, it may snowball out of control.

Anyone who has an issue with Joes messages has never been a kid. I'd have never survived the social media shite of today. I barely survived being overheard by coaches and teachers lol

Don't lie.

I have not given any legal advice. In fact I strongly suggested that the Burrow family contact an attorney. In this case, L. Lin Wood. Wood is certainly qualified in matters such as the one at hand.
