Do they? In both the Texas and Alabama games the defense could not stop the opponent from scoring in the second half. UT scored on every 2nd half possession and Bama scored on all but 1. LSU scored 45 and 46 points in those games. Yet, they needed to recover onsides kicks in both to preserve victory. Had they not recovered those kicks it is VERY likely LSU doesn't win those games because the defense simply could not stop the opposing offense at that point.

The best you can say about this defense is that it has it's moments and they fortunately haven't been put in a do or die scenario because the offense has been so great at answering the bell time and time again. Will it be enough to win a championship? We'll see. But unless you are looking through purple shaded lenses, I don't think anyone wants to see this defense on the field against a good offense late when LSU MUST have a stop
