Taryn Terrell, born in NOLA, defeated Gail Kim for the Knockouts Championship a while back.

But the answer is Ernie Ladd: "Let me Tell You Something Mr. TV Announcer..."

One Man Gang lived in Port Allen around 1980. We would ride our bikes back and forth in front of his house hoping to see Missy Hyatt :).

I sat down at Superior grill one time with a wrestler that reminded me of mankind but wasn’t mankind. He did that hardcore stuff where there was always blood. I can’t remember his name but he was popular in the 80’s I think.

Kamala is from Senatobia, MS.

I worked with JYD in Houma not long before his death. Also drank beers one night with Ernie Ladd in Thibodaux. Most wrestlers’ heights are exaggerated — I can attest that Ladd’s was definitely not. He was every bit of 6’9”. He told me some funny stories about working with Andre.

I’ve also met One Man Gang (George Gray) on several occasions. Totally different what what you’d expect. Super-nice, down-to-earth guy, also really big (about 6’6”). One of the very few true “nice” guys in wrestling, who stayed on the straight and narrow and didn’t do all the drugs and infidelity.

Junkyard Dog owned New Orleans while headlining Mid-South. He was voted most popular state in New Orleans over Archie and Pistol Pete.
