Because, at the time of the change, it was legal to be drafted to fight in Vietnam but not to vote.
With the draft abolished, that Amendment should probably be repealed. Instead, idiots are trying to lower it.

You should also be a taxpayer, excluding sales tax.

That is my understanding as to why as well. I agree the voting age should be raised back up to 21.

How the frick can you guys agree that you can tax someone but they can't vote? We fought a war over this already.
