coworker is from nearby, asked him the same questions recently. he said kayak or pole pirogue is do-able off the gravel public roads. You see a lot of ducks that are on their way to Delacroix/Venice areas. You may get 2-3. You will always get checked by LDWF. All in, he said its a lot of effort and having green jeans breathing down your neck everytime makes it not worth it if you have somewhere else to go.

I've never been checked. Probably hunted it 30 times in the past 3 years. I guess I should add that's probably because they stay busy with the guys further away from the lake. I've never seen them in the turnaround at the end of the road.
