Did you hear them talking about this possibility last night?

They said if Minnesota would beat Ohio State in the Big 10 championship, Ohio State should still get a playoff spot over the Gophers. Both would be 12-1 but Minnesota would be conference champs with a head to head win over OSU.

What kind of bullshite is that? Eye test again?

I am guessing strength of schedule would play a role in this. I haven't researched that. I would also think that margin of victory would play a huge role. If Minnesota beats them by 2 touchdowns, I dont think OSU gets a spot over them

That was one of the things they mentioned. A couple of them (including a Herbstreit) said that Minnesota should get in. Some LSU fans have selective hearing when listening to these pundits

It wasn’t a “they”. It was just herbstreit. Everybody else on set said Minnesota would get in. I don’t understand why people come in here being dishonest to create some type of conversation.

It was both Herbstreit and Jesse Palmer advocating for Ohio State in that scenario.

Maybe you guys need to listen next time.

I do not think this is correct.

And, the full scenario was:

Clemson wins out
LSU loses to UGA (SECCG)
OSU loses to Minn (B1GCG)

So, all 4 "not Clemson" have 12-1 records and the leader now loses.

I believe all except Herby said: Clemson, UGA, LSU, Minn

Herby said: OSU over Minn but even he said it was iffy and was not cavalier about it

ESPN is going to advocate for that because Ohio State would bring more eyeballs to the screen than Minnesota. Ratings, ratings, ratings. Heck, Rece was even saying as much on the show — “imagine the chaos, the interest would be huge!” or something like that.

That’s what sucks about ESPN having the premier college football show and analysis, and the rights to so many games including the playoff and NCG. They can control the narrative to a certain extent and prop up who they want in, discredit those they want out, and attempt to sway the playoff committee, because ratings.

No it wasn’t. Palmer specifically said he disagreed with herbstreit. You are just lying or are delusional.

And Minnesota would have beaten them.

College football is the only fricking place where a bunch of self important douches think their opinion is worth more than on field results. If they put OSU in over Minnesota in this scenario, it's a fricking joke.

Who said this? I doubt the committee said this.

And if that happened.... burn this format to the ground.

This won't happen. If Minnesota beats OSU, the fknuts will not get in the playoff.
