I think Texas does it pretty well. Default tags and seasons are generous with programs to get plenty more if you feel the need. Antler restrictions only apply in counties with too many dumbasses.

Louisiana is such a diverse state, not only with a rut varying from September to February, but the deer population is just as extreme.
I saw less than 20 deer and only 2 bucks all last season at my lease near Sikes. Have seen no bucks this year.
However, in just a few hunts in nunyobizness LA, I’ve seen 8 different bucks and 2 shooters, letting the last one walk (if he makes he’s gonna be a hoss next year).
I think each individual lease has to be smart about what their land can handle as far as deer population. I would like our lease to go to 1 doe and 2 bucks and would love to see some type of antler restrictions. But if we did that we’d lose half the membership and then the lease.
