There’s an article out there written a few years ago that basically explains it.
Fleet operators like LE and taxi companies have switched to SUVs due to the majority of other models being designed with uni-bodies.
In the Crown Victoria era, they could repair a damaged model by swapping the hood and fender. That same damage on a uni-body all but totals it.
