You have to weigh this with quite a few things. Are you really wasting money? You're going to buy a house buy throwing down a deposit, all of the various insurances that go along with it, all of the maintenace costs, the initial cost to fix up the house to your liking.
You're a young, single dude. There's a chance you keep this house for 5 years or so. Do you know where the market will be in 5 years? Your house could be worth less than it is now, or a negligible gain. At which point, you will have easily spent way more in 5 years owning that house than you would if you rented for 5 years then purchased a home.
