A 13 inch inside is not that hard to find.
Where I hunt it VERY common for old deer to not get this wide. Our deer grow tall, not wide.

Where I hunt I’ve never seen a 41/2 year old deer except on camera at 1-2 AM.I’ve only killed a couple of 31/2 year old deer in 35 years hunting.I’ve shot some pretty nice bucks but never a true trophy.Last 10 years I’ve let more bucks walk than I’ve shot but it hasn’t helped. The QDMA model just doesn’t work on small properties unless the surrounding landowners aren’t on board and my neighbors definitely aren’t.
It blows my mind seeing the bucks on hunting shows leisurely walking down a senderos or feeding in food plots while the hunter figures out how old they are.Generally when I see an antlered buck I have about 10 seconds to get the crosshairs on him and shoot.
