What is there to do?
We are fat and content. No serious civil unrest has come in a time where people can eat, be entertained, and go about their lives in a relatively normal way. It is only when the moral decay leads to times of economic pain and scarcity that anything will be done, IMO.
ETA: It is entirely possible for a paradigm shift to come from the top-down, via disaffected elite, but I don't see much from our elite that would indicate they would like things to change.

"I prefer dangerous freedom over peaceful slavery."
-Thomas Jefferson
HempHead you are right. My only hope is that the current hard push by the left oversteps the line that most are willing to accept. To be honest it goes both ways. "But how's your 401k?" is a testament to your point. While I agree that it's very nice to watch my 401k skyrocket, it's not the great indicator that everything is right in the world. If everything goes to hell in a handbasket, that big ole 401k can and will be taxed beyond what was promised.
