There is something to be said for exploring a place on your own. Sure it's find to have a companion sometimes, but when you're alone you can do whatever YOU want to do.. at your pace. No waiting on other people, having to compromise, etc.

absolutely, it's kind of liberating and exciting to just set out and go for the experience, even though there are other co-workers with me, most of the time I like to just cut out on my own, kind of have my own routine in some places, get to know some of the locals at the bars/restaurants, whatnot

I backpacked around Europe by myself for about 3 weeks. I got really lonely a few times, but most of the time I had a blast just doing my own thing.
